Introduced in 1996, the F550 Maranello marked Ferrari’s return to the traditional front-engined V12 Berlinetta a format synonymous with the marque’s most celebrated grand tourers.
Powered by a 5,474cc quad-cam V12 producing approximately 437 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 419 lb-ft of torque, performance remains seriously impressive:
0–60 mph circa 4.4 seconds
Top speed approximately 199 mph
Near perfect 50:50 weight distribution
Fully analogue steering and throttle response
Crucially, the 550 retains the purity of a traditional 6-speed gated manual gearbox, making it one of the last truly analogue Ferrari V12s before the era of paddles and electronics.
The Pininfarina design remains one of Ferrari’s most elegant modern shapes long bonnet, muscular rear haunches and restrained aggression without unnecessary wings or vents.
A car that has clearly been cherished and properly stored.
The contrast of black leather with Bordeaux detailing gives the interior a subtle richness that elevates it beyond standard specification. The cabin presents in excellent condition, commensurate with mileage, with supportive seats and well-preserved switchgear.
The 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 remains one of Ferrari’s great modern power units smooth, muscular and linear with a soaring top-end soundtrack.
